Homer, Helen Lovejoy, Jed Hawk, Larry Doogan, and Kirk Van Houten were tasked by Theo as part of The Institute to break into ChumNet Island and upload the Universal Eradication Code to the servers there to erase the negative publicity about them and restore their reputations. When Homer went to upload the code, he found that it would also erase negative publicity about many bad people who deserved the negative publicity. He then decided to take out the flash drive and destroy it before it finished uploading.
