The Institute is an institute in Springfield to help social pariahs who have made mistakes that got shared on social media.

History

After Homer became a social pariah, Theo approached him and told him about The Institute. Theo then took Homer to meet other members of his new group, which included Helen Lovejoy, Jed Hawk, Larry Doogan, and Kirk Van Houten, who all had embarrassing moments shared on social media. Theo then had the group do community service jobs to try and raise their reputation. When that failed, Theo told them about a drastic plan to upload a Universal Eradication Code to ChumNet servers on ChumNet Island.

The Institute breaks its rehabilitants up according to the severity of their mistakes. They have categories for Drunk Texters, Hot Mic Mishaps, Accidental Reply-Alls, Privilege-Blind Tik Toks, Comedians Who Did Material "Too Soon", and Offensive Halloween Costume Wearers.

Behind the Laughter

The Institute exterior is modeled on the Xavier Institute in the X-Men movies which were shot at the Hatley Castle in Victoria, British Columbia.
