  • When watching the laundry, Grampa says that he's rooting for the Red Sox. He later tells the Sox to beat "those damn Hankies", a reference to the New York Yankees.
  • When Bart causes the laundry machine to produce bubbles, he says "Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble!", a reference to the quote "Double, double toil and trouble" from Macbeth.
  • When Bart starts to cause all the laundry machines to produce bubbles, he says "Fly, my pretties, fly!", a reference to The Wizard of Oz.
  • The giant bubble chasing Ralph is a reference to the Rover guard "balloon" from the British Sci-Fi TV series The Prisoner.
