Synopsis[edit]
- "Duff Beer gets a new owner, Duffco, and they change the recipe, much to Homer's anger. He wants to get Duff to return to the old recipes, but must first find Howard K. Duff VIII, who has disappeared."
Plot[edit]
Homer is watching television with the family when an advert for new cold-fire brewed Duff Beer comes on. Homer gets excited and decides that he has to try the new recipe so he goes to Moe's Tavern where he tries it for the first time, but hates it. However, Homer keeps drinking more and more beer to try and like the taste of it. The next morning, Homer tells Marge that it tastes awful and then decides to try and bring Duff back to its former glory. He goes to the Springfield Convention Center where Duffco are holding a stockholders meeting. Homer complains about the new recipe, but the Duffco board shoot him down. When they find that he's not a stockholder, Homer is chased out of the meeting.
Later that day, Homer is defeated and gives up. However, Lisa reveals that Howard K. Duff VIII owns twenty percent of the Duffco stock, which would be enough to have leverage with the other stockholders. Homer and Lisa try and find Howard K. Duff but find that he had gone missing during an expedition to Watagonia, a small island in the South Pacific. Homer then decides to assemble a team that includes Duffman, Surly Duff, and Barney so that they can bring Howard Duff home. As the plane that Barney files for them goes over Watagonia, Homer, Duffman and Surly all parachute out. However, they all end up getting captured by the tribe that inhabits the island. As Homer is being cooked by the tribes people, Howard Duff steps out and has Homer, Duffman, and Surly released. He then reveals that the tribe revere him as some kind of god.
Howard Duff reveals that he was banished to Watagonia by Duffco to keep him out of the way, so he couldn't force them to keep the Duff Beer recipe the same. He also reveals that Watagonia is the home of Watagonian Hops, the secret ingredient of Duff Beer. When Homer decides that they should leave, Howard Duff tells him that he can't as they will kill him if he tries to leave. Just then, Barney comes through the rain forest whilst belching, scaring the tribe off. Barney reveals that he landed the plane in the ocean and the gang all rushes to it to start paddling the plane away. Duffman falls behind and doesn't get back to the plane in time, leaving the tribe to start revering him as a god instead.
Back at home, Homer drinks the original Duff Beer again, after Howard Duff managed to oust Globoil from ownership. He also got a lifetime supply of Duff Beer and also brought one of the tribes people back with him to play with Bart.
