Cultural References

  • The title references The Front, the Woody Allen movie of the same name.
  • The first Itchy & Scratchy episode Bart & Lisa write is titled "Little Barbershop of Horrors," a reference to Little Shop of Horrors.
  • By the time the episode aired, Billy Crystal had hosted The Oscars for three years in a row (1990–1993). He went on to host it in 1997, 1998, 2000, and 2004.
  • The Flanders segment was added in in order to fill in the time of the episode, as nothing else worked.

Continuity

  • In Homer Goes to College, Homer is shown with his high school diploma which reads GED, which he earned in this episode. Homer burns it while chanting "I am so smart."
