- The title is a reference to The Amazing Spider-Man.
- The entire comic is a parody of Spider-Man comics.
- Parker Peterman is an obvious parody of Peter Parker.
- Parker getting bitten by a radioactive spider is similar to Spider-Man's origin.
- Aunt Mabel and Uncle Benny are parodies of Aunt May and Uncle Ben.
- Buck Curtis is a parody of Flash Thompson.
- At the end, Radioactive Man says "with accidental powers, comes irresponsibility", a reference to the line "with great power comes great responsibility."
- Parker Peterman is told to close his gown as they can see his "spider-sense tingling", a reference to Spider-Man's spider-sense.
