On behalf of the Wikisimpsons admin team I would like to officially thank you for moving us to our independent domain. :) --Smiley12 09:42, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks guys! I'm really honored to be able to work with such a wonderful team. As a fellow Simpsons fan, I hope we're able to create the greatest resource for Simpsons information on the internet! :) --Jake 20:17, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks a heap!
Hey Jake! I really love how you're dedicated to this wiki, even though you don't edit at all! I'm sure we'd all love for you to stick around and help edit, but of course, it's your choice! So, thanks for all that you've done, and thanks for any future help! --Will k (Talk) 06:52, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- You're very welcome! I'm a huge fan of The Simpsons, which is why I offered independent hosting to you guys. I hope to edit whenever I can. :) --Jake 20:11, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
A couple of things
Firstly, do you know what URL we need to input to use on AutoWikiBrowser? You can't have /wiki/ as AWB breaks and /w/ doesn't work either.
Secondly, how do we get a favicon up?
Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 20:26, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- The setup here should be the same as on ShoutWiki, so try substituting 'http://simpsons.shoutwiki.com' for 'http://nookipedia.com' and let me know what happens. I've never used AWB, so I can't test it for myself.
- Just let me know what favicon you'd like and I'll set it up right away. :) --Jake 21:09, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- Huh. Just started working
- We should have a favicon at File:Favicon.ico. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 21:14, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Broken redirects
For some reason, we have a lot of broken redirects, however, they all still ink to the pages, they all still exist. Couls you fix this please? Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 10:55, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Suppress redirect
Hi, could this be enabled for admins please? Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 11:00, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Wanted Pages
Wanted Pages has the following pages on it which should't be there:
Wikisimpsons:Policies and Guidelines (2,451 links) exists, despite being a red link on the list
Wikisimpsons:Achievement badges (696 links) existed, though only had one link to it, and now has none.
Wikisimpsons:Sandbox (246 links) exists and is also a redlink.
--Cook879 14:23, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- The same maintenance script for Solar Dragon's problem should fix this as well. --Jake 23:11, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Broken images (again)
Another one here. It only happened when I changed the size of the image... ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 08:00, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- It seems to be a server limitation, so I'll look into it when I get home. --Jake 14:57, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- Fixed. It seems that the new thumbnail directories weren't writable by the server. If you see any more pages that still have this error, just purge it and it should fix itself. :) --Jake 19:05, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
Found another one that needs sorted out. Season 5, the image for the "Marge on the Lam" episode summary. Tried a null edit and changing the file name, but no joy. -- Mythigator 21:28, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- I think the problem was that the article had different capitalization than the actual file page. It should be fixed now. :) --Jake 22:33, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
Wikisimpsons:Achievement badges
Hi, this is currently a wanted page with quite a few links. I deleted the page as it was a Wikia thing. i know I can remove the links with AWB but it won't allow me to make a list of the pages through the what links here option. Do you have any other ideas on how to quickly remove the links without manually doing so? Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 20:05, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- I installed and used Special:ReplaceText to remove all instances of the string. It seemed to be located in a bunch of welcome messages. Text replacements are added as jobs, so it may take a few hours to finish the removal.
- The replace text function is now available to all bureaucrats, all though I would use great caution when using it as some changes are not reversible. --Jake 20:55, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- Wow, never knew about that. I'll stick to my bot when I can and will only use that in places where the bot can't do what I want. Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 21:00, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
Special:ViewRelationshipRequests
This appears to be broken for some reason. Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 14:43, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
- I've looked into this quite a bit and couldn't find anything that could be causing the problem. We'll have to wait for an update to SocialProfile to see if the problem has been fixed. --Jake 15:40, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
Simpsons Fanon and Email addresses
Hi, I was wondering whether you could make a subdomain for Simpsons Fanon. This was by far our second most popular wiki so it would be great to restore it (although it was one of two ShoutWiki wikis that broke beyond repair). Could it be fanon.simpsonswiki.net?
Also, these email addresses we get, how would I access it? Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 17:44, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- I just set up this page with some information about email accounts. Since you are Solar Dragon, just ignore the section about approval and send me an email right away.
- Adding Simpsons fanon won't be a problem, but do they plan on starting from scratch? --Jake 21:21, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- Simpsons Fanon was run by me so we'll have to start from scratch again. We could import the Wikia wiki though. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 21:26, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- I thought of that, but I wasn't sure if the break in content would be too substantial after the wiki was run on ShoutWiki for a few months. Also, Wikia is sort of a pain to import from because they don't provide any sort of database backup at all. --Jake 21:28, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- We'll start from scratch again then. I know Phinbart has at least 40 fanon episodes to add so tha'll give us a headstart :) ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 21:29, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Ok, I've set up the fanon wiki. It can now be accessed at fanon.simpsonswiki.net. It's set up to use the same image database as this wiki, so there won't be any need to re-upload images that already exist here. Just include them like any other images. Fanon-only images can still be uploaded to the other wiki as well. Let me know who to promote first, and if any extensions need to be added. --Jake 19:33, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- Extensions, we would like all the ones we have here there too if possible. Not sure on who to promote first, have to tell the community first. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 19:44, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- Extensions and skins have been copied over. Also, you'll need to register before I can make you a bureaucrat. --Jake 20:05, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Hi I'd like my email address as smiley12@simpsonswiki.net, here's Solar Dragon accepting it. Thanks --Smiley12 22:06, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Template:Portal
Hi, what is wrong with this template? It should look like this http://simpsons.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Portal . FatHomerTalk 13:51, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- It would appear as though there are some Wikia-only parser functions on that page that need to be removed before the page will display properly. --Jake 19:33, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Welcome bot
Hi, the welcome bot doesn't work properly (this edit) It does links wrong and the user didn't even edit a page before it welcomed them. Plus, the links were wrong. It should go page edited, then a user name. I think that we should stick with manually welcoming users as it would be hard to configure it to our needs. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 15:52, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- The bot welcomes users upon registration, but if you'd like to welcome users manually than of course that's fine. I'll stop the bot. --Jake 17:38, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Social profile bugs
Special:editProfile doesn't work either. That's two parts of the social profile that don't work. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 21:10, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- Neither does Special:UserBoard, Special:Tags, Special:UserActivity, Special:TopUsers, Special:SystemGiftManager and Special:ViewSystemGifts. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 21:11, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
A couple more things
There's something up with the main page at the bottom. The category bar has moved and it says retrieved from simpsonswiki... Also, on Fanon in the Simpsons Wikis template, the fanon logo is blurred and pixelated yet it is fine elsewhere (including on the same template on this wiki. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 21:45, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
- I noticed both of these issues earlier today, and I'm still looking into fixing them. Shouldn't be long. :) --Jake 23:07, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
- I've managed to fix the image thumbnail problem, as well as discover that the Main Page issue is likely the result of some malformed CSS somewhere in one of the included templates. I'm just not sure which... --Jake 23:19, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
Autopatrolled
Hi, is there any way to get Autopatrolled rights? We have a couple of users who don't need their edits patrolled. Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 15:52, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yes. You should be able to assign the permission now. I've also installed Special:Patrol, which should make it a little easier to patrol edits. :) --Jake 18:28, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:36, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
- On Special:Patrol, there are a lot of edits that should be marked as patrolled. I got bored of going through and endorsing them. Any way to auto-remove these? ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:54, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
- And for some reason, I can't change the Forum administrator, patroller and Autopatrolled groups. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:56, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:36, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Lock Database for IPs
I just blocked about 50 different IPs and undid a whole lot of vandalism and spam but it's still going on, you might have to temporarily lock the database for all IPs if it continues, thanks --Smiley12 09:51, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- I had the same problem. If you block IP's they vandalise the only other way - creating accounts with obscene names. It forced me to lock database for unverified users. Escyos 10:09, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- I've installed an extension that should stop all spam bots from registering or editing. If the spam continues with real spammers, just let me know and I'll disable anonymous editing altogether. :) --Jake 14:07, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- I would not want to disable anonymous editing altogether. We succeeded in forcing Wikia to do that which is why we shouldn't do so. We'll see how it goes but if we are to lock the database, it should only be temporarily. Also, could you give crats the power to lock the database or not? ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 20:05, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- I guess I should make it clear that locking the database is different from disabling guest editing. Locking the database completely shuts down anything that involves writing to it. This includes all edits, registrations, and watchlist changes. Disabling guest editing is only a setting which can be configured through the site's code. So it's not really possible to give the ability to disable guest editing to anyone. However, you can always send me an email if it's urgent and I'll change the setting for you right away. :) -Jake 20:24, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, sorry, I worded that wrong. Wikkii has some sort of extension which allows crats to change settings to change anonymous editing. this is it but I think it might just be for wiki farms, not too sure though. Not sure if there is anything similar for independent wikis. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 20:31, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

- No problem. I've seen that extension before, and you're correct that it is for Wiki farms. I really wish MediaWiki would add an onlime control panel at some point, because editing server files can be difficult for people that aren't familiar with PHP. -Jake 20:35, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Monaco
DO you know why our Monaco code won't work for the Monaco skin? Also, the footer bit seems to be at the top of the page... ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 19:56, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- I have no idea. I guess whoever ported the skin changed some of the CSS names. --Jake 21:57, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
Main Page problem
On the main page, the welcomeUser just shows up your user image and name. I don't know if this is a bug or something else more technical. I don't think you will be able to know, because it's your username. Doh5678 (talk) 16:53, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- Lol. It says "Hello Jake" and has your avatar for me :P ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 17:07, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- It's just going to show whoever viewed the page when the server decided to cache it. I'm working on a fix for this. -Jake 19:40, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Uploading images
When I tried to upload an image, I got "The upload directory (public) is not writable by the webserver." ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 17:17, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- This should be fixed within the next few minutes. -Jake 18:06, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- I am unable to upload images, it says the file type is not permitted although it was .png. --Smiley12 08:04, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
OrangeVector
OrangeVector's gone now and normal Vector is now the default skin. Not sure if you meant to do this or not. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 20:23, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- Orangevector is not yet optimized for the new version of MediaWiki, so I had to disable it. Thanks for letting me know. :) -Jake 21:37, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Welcome message
When I'm logged in the box on the top right says "Hello Jake" --Smiley12 03:11, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Special:Block
It doesn't work... ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 06:56, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- Looking into this. This doesn't occur on Nookipedia, so it seems to be an issue caused by one of the many extensions here. --Jake 17:05, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, this has been fixed. :) --Jake 17:10, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Template:CategoryTOC
Our CategoryTOC template doesn't work now either. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 09:54, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- I updated ParserFunctions again to make sure. Where is this template used so I can see what's going on? --Jake 17:05, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- Category:Characters and Category:Images off the top of my head. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 17:53, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Special: Wikiforum
Trying to go on Special:Wikiforum brings up an internal error. --Cook879 14:01, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- It seems that the extension is not up to date. We'll have to wait until they fix it. --Jake 17:05, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
[21:40] <ashley> #6 /srv/www/simpsonswiki.net/public_html/w/extensions/WikiForum/WikiForumClass.php(1187): Language->timeanddate('2147483647????')
[21:41] <ashley> ^^that seems to be causing it; note the question marks
[21:41] <Solar_Dragon> Right...
[21:41] <Solar_Dragon> You got any idea how to fix it?
[21:41] <ashley> the code in question checks if the wff_last_post_timestamp field is greater than 0 (which it is in this case), and if so, it shows the MEdiaWiki:Wikiforum-by message
[21:42] <ashley> 1st param to the message is $wgLang->timeanddate( $forum->wff_last_post_timestamp ) (which is causing problems on Wikisimpsons) -- it should be the time and date
[21:42] <ashley> tl,dr: my code isn't broken (unless you're running a non-trunk version of WF; still it shouldn't be broken), your server setup seems to be
☆The Solar Dragon☆ 20:44, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- I just updated the extension to the trunk version again, and we still get the same error. I haven't changed anything in the configuration other than updating MediaWiki, so something about the new software must be braking it. Has he tested WF with the latest stable version of MediaWiki? --Jake 01:08, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
Welcome User thing on main page
Hey Jake. Ermm... strangely enough, when I go to the main page, the welcome user section says "Hej AleWi", and then a bit lower "Ladda upp", the latter linking to Special:UploadAvatar. I'm expecting this is just one of the bugs in the recent upgrade of MediaWiki. :P --Will k (Talk) 08:04, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- Also, in the poll section, where I can comment, it says "<AleWi>". As far as I can see, it thinks I'm AleWi!! --Will k (Talk) 08:06, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, it is. I'm still working on a solution. :) --Jake 14:41, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- Heh. Apparently it's fixed. --Will k (Talk) 07:23, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
- It's not yet. I'm getting Solar Dragon's avatar. :P --Jake 17:09, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

BASEPAGENAME
Hi, the {{BASEPAGENAME}} parser function no longer seems to be working. See Template:EpisodePrevNextApp then see Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire/Appearances. Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 06:24, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- It seems that the parser functions extension is causing all of these problems, so I'm going to look into reverting to an older version and hope it works. --Jake 16:39, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
