Cultural references
- The airplane restaurant "Up, Up and Buffet!" is based on a submarine shaped restaurant that was near the Fox studio named "Dive".
- The supposed alternate ending to the 1942 film Casablanca is shown in the episode, and the Old Jewish Man gives Bart and Lisa a copy of It's A Wonderful Life with a "killing-spree ending".
- The name of the episode is a parody of the movie Natural Born Killers.
- The song played over the end credits is "Rock the Casbah" by The Clash.
- The church with a cieling that has the sky visible is reference to the Crystal Cathedral in California.
Trivia/Goofs
- At the golf course Moe says sarcastically "Think of the children. Wouldn't someone please think of the children!?" closely mocking the famous quote by Helen Lovejoy (who happens to be standing next to him at the time) in Homer vs the Eighteenth Amendment
- The windmill was in such a place that when it decapitated the Abraham Lincoln statue, it could have also caused injury to Seymour Skinner.
- When Homer and Marge are inside the windmill, Homer comments that he impregnated Marge there. However, in I Married Marge, Bart's conception took place inside a castle.
- When the cloud of dust gathers, Ned Flanders seems to peek at the escaping Homer and Marge, but doesn't seem to notice afterwards.
