  • It could also be connected to the 1988 movie Mac and Me, an E.T. ripoff of a similar naming scheme, which was funded by McDonald's and features prominent product placement for that restaurant chain.
• Krusty being declined more money for his act and deciding to open a Krusty Burger across the street, which leads to Gus and Abe to going out of business parallels how Ray Kroc of McDonald's responded to not being able to get the original "Big M" location by opening a franchise near it that forced the McDonald Brothers out of business.
  • This is part of the plot of The Founder. Krusty's and Gus interaction at the Worth-A-Try Burger is similar to the one involving Ray Kroc and "Mac" McDonald
• Abe crosses the pool to reunite with Gus and Gus setting aside people to reach him in the same Jenny does it to reunite with Forrest Gump at the National Mall after his Vietnam's speech.
• Gus sings "Shameless Ostentation", a parody of "Pure Imagination" from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
  • He mentions being richer than Bill Gates since his separation in it.
• Gus sees Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson in space.
• Mav Redfield's Island music festival is a reference to the Fyre Festival. Mav says that Kenny Chesney died at the festival.
• Sheila and Lisa watch a movie at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
  • Sheila says the movie was made by Chloé Zhao.
• Angela Merkel, Kevin O'Leary (who Jessica refers to as the bald, creepy Shark Tank guy), and Charli D'Amelio attend the meeting.
