Bart Simpson's Creepy Crawly Tales "The Collector" is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #1.
Synopsis[edit]
- "The Collector, a rich comic book collector, manages to lock himself in his comic vault."
Plot[edit]
The Collector, a rich comic book collector, settles down for the evening with an issue of Captain Squid #7. He then reminisces about how he bought the comic. He went to the local comic store and the owner refused to negotiate on the price of the comic. The Collector then threatened to tell the Vice Squad that the owner was selling Betty Page trading cards to minors. The comic shop owner then sold the comic at 10% of the guide price. As The Collector left the shop, he was confronted by a man who wanted a light for his cigarette. The Collector quickly got into his limo and never went back to that comic shop.
In the present, after he was done reading the comic, The Collector took it down to his climate-controlled comic vault. The next day, Smedley, The Collector's butler, left to go and see his mother for the weekend, leaving The Collector home alone. Whilst Smedley was gone, the climate controls in the comic vault had started to malfunction, with the temperature hitting 97 degrees. The Collector tried to repair the climate controls but ultimately failed. His dog then ran into the vault. When The Collector yelled at him to get out, the dog ran out of the vault again, but knocked over some crates, locking The Collector in his vault. It was then that The Collector realized that the temperature had dropped into freezing.
When Smedley returned from his weekend with his mother, he found The Collector locked in the vault. When he opened the vault, he found that The Collector had gone crazy because he had to burn his comic collection for heat to stay alive.
