[[Channel 6]] has just finished filming the ''[[Channel 6 All-Stars Halloween Super Variety Showcase]]'' for next [[Halloween]]. After stepping out of the stage room, he sees [[Raphael]] chasing after [[Snake Jailbird]], who is carrying a sack. Brockman refuses to try and stop him since it isn't his job, and Snake gets away. A producer then runs up to Brockman and reveals that Snake robbed his dressing room, stealing the gold bars from his safe and even his lucky suit. As Brockman leaves [[Channel 6 Studios]], Snake confronts Brockman and robs him, taking his wallet and car, leaving Brockman penniless. Soon, the police arrive but tell Brockman that there's nothing they can do as there has been a spike in unsolved crimes recently. They leave Kent, telling him not to stick around the alley after dark because it's dangerous there.

When he leaves the studio runs [[Snake]] past him with a bag, the security guard asks Brockman to stop him but he refuses they are not his job as Snake gets away. A man then tells Kent that he stole Brock's clothes from the dressing room and his gold-infused he would receive in payment for his work with the Halloween Special he just taped. Kent leaves the TV building in a [[Superman]] costume he had on the recording when he comes out to the parkering steal Snake his car and wallet. Kent call to the police but they sees unhelpful.

The next morning, [[Lisa]] comes by and finds Brockman sitting on the side of the road. Brockman tells Lisa what happened and appreciates her listening to him as she's a fellow "newsie". Lisa tells Brockman that she's just filling in for [[Milhouse]] on his paper round because Milhouse is visiting [[Nana Sophie Mussolini|his nana]], but Brockman tells her that what she's doing is noble. Lisa tells Brockman that he used to be a great investigative journalist and she thinks those talents are still within him. Brockman then finds Snake's library card lying on the ground and goes to track him down.

Kent Brockman bursts into the library and confronts the librarian. He finds a copy of ''[[Goldfinger]]'' by Ian Fleming and finds his stolen gold bars inside. Figuring out that the library is the front for a fencing racket, Brockman confronts [[Fat Tony]] and the [[Springfield Mafia]]. Lisa, [[Milhouse]], [[Sherri]], and [[Terri]] then arrive to back up Brockman. Brockman gives chase to Snake, who tries to get a gun from a copy of ''[[The Guns of Navarrone]]'', but finds that it's just a normal book. Brockman catches up to him and beats him.

On the program, he talks about one young lady who helped bring him back to his feet, before he tells the weather lady {{ap|Mandy|Anchor Blues}} that he couldn't have done it without her and asks her out to dinner. Lisa storms out of the recording studio.
  
It is tomorrow and [[Lisa]] bikes past Kent on her paper round and he tells her why he has a Superman costume and sitting on the sidewalk outside the studio's car park. Kent has been depressed, he is a joke, but Lisa cheers him up. Kent finds then on the street Snakes library card and he decides to visit the library. The librarian tells Kent that he will not find anything here but then he starts to flip through the book [[Goldfinger]], he discovers that they placed his gold bars in the book. Librarian is angry and asks how he was able to detect their operation and he says that he looked into the Junior Assistant Librarian Program and found {{ap|Fat Tony|second}} and the D'Amico Crime Family. Fat Tony is there and tell keny that a group of six-time felons can do some light reading amongst friends and Fat Tony tells his friends that Kent must sleeping with the fishes. Fat Tony is then beaten by a newspaper and it appears that the deliverers newspeaper from Springfield has come to help Kent. Kent will see Snake and he attempts to escape from the library and going to pick up a weapon that is hidden in the book [[The Guns of Navarrone]] but then it turns out to be a book in the book and not a weapon so Kent can now successfully beat him down. In the next broadcasting of the news tell Kent about what he have done at when he says that a special young lady help him think Lisa that it's her, but it turns out to be [[Mandy]] and he offers her a dinner and she accepted it. Lisa leaves the studio, while Kent continues to read the news.

Anchor Blues is a The Simpsons Summer Shindig comic story first printed in Simpsons Summer Shindig #6.

Synopsis[edit]

After Snake robs his dressing room at Channel 6, Kent Brockman steps up to do what the police won't and catch the criminal.

Plot[edit]

Channel 6 has just finished filming the Channel 6 All-Stars Halloween Super Variety Showcase for next Halloween. After stepping out of the stage room, he sees Raphael chasing after Snake Jailbird, who is carrying a sack. Brockman refuses to try and stop him since it isn't his job, and Snake gets away. A producer then runs up to Brockman and reveals that Snake robbed his dressing room, stealing the gold bars from his safe and even his lucky suit. As Brockman leaves Channel 6 Studios, Snake confronts Brockman and robs him, taking his wallet and car, leaving Brockman penniless. Soon, the police arrive but tell Brockman that there's nothing they can do as there has been a spike in unsolved crimes recently.
