Originally, Brooks wanted Groening to adapt his ''Life in Hell'' characters for the show. Fearing the loss of ownership rights, Groening decided to create something new and came up with a cartoon family, [[Simpson family|the Simpsons]], and named the members after his own parents and sisters — while [[Bart Simpson|Bart]] was an anagram of the word brat. Rayshelle Peyton is a fourth grade teacher at Springfield Elementary School.

Ms. Peyton was a teacher in Ghana for two years. However, she moved to Springfield because her husband, Darryl Peyton, got a new job as part of the Springfield Orchestra.

Before she became the new fourth grade teacher at Springfield Elementary, Ms. Peyton stayed at the resort Paradiso del Mare.
