The business was going well at the beginning, thanks to Homer's ad on TV. He was even given the [[Springfield]]'s city key. After [[Barney]] bought the [[Plow King]] snowplow and started a new business, Homer's went down, specially because of Barney's ad featuring [[Linda Ronstadt]]. Homer made a new ad on TV, but it didn't work. He later decided to make a crank call to Barney, sending him to a non-existing job at [[Widow's Peak]]. A Derren Brown Christmas is a Christmas documentary starring Derren Brown.

Derren Brown went to Springfield to film A Derren Brown Christmas. He chose Springfield because there was no feeling of Christmas spirit in the town. So that he wouldn't reveal what he was really doing to the townspeople, he told Mayor Quimby and the people of Springfield that the town had won an award for being the "Christmasiest" Town in America, and he and Hark Media were there to film a documentary about it. After getting permission to film, Derren Brown focused on his first target, Gil Gunderson.
