Location Information
Town: Springfield
State: Springfield's state
Country: USA
Use: Transportation
First appearance: "Bart Sells His Soul"

The Springfield Subway System is an abandoned underground railway network running beneath Springfield. Although the trains are functional, they are no longer in use, due to the damage caused to buildings by the tremors of the moving train. The tracks pass underneath Springfield Elementary School, and caused severe damage to the structure of the building when Bart and Milhouse operated one of the trains.

History[edit]

While traveling to Milhouse's grandmother's apartment to recover his soul, Bart Simpson passed the entrance to 3rd Street Station. After a street cleaner crushed his bicycle, Bart continued on foot as the vehicle descended the station stairs, leaving him to continue his journey alone.[1]

Homer Simpson imagined Ned Flanders saying that the Springfield Subway had run over his hat while describing a difficult day during Homer's fantasy about working from home.[2]
