According to Abraham Simpson, young Homer had spent hours sitting in front of the set watching television broadcasts at the Old Simpson Farm, particularly political programs and major national events. During a later visit to the abandoned family home, Abe pointed to the television and recalled Homer’s fascination with it, remarking that he had remained glued to the screen throughout the day.
