Zone Wars is a Bart Simpson story first printed in Bart Simpson #16.
Synopsis[edit]
- Bart sets up fake "no parking" zones around town to trick Chief Wiggum into handing out parking tickets to people.
Plot[edit]
Bart is on the swing in the backyard when he hears Ned talking to Rod and Todd. Ned tells his kids that they should always obey the law and says that it's easy and that he's never even had a parking ticket. Hearing this, Bart comes up with an idea to get Ned a parking ticket. Later, while Ned is grocery shopping, Bart spray-paints the curb next to his car red. This leads to him getting a parking ticket from Chief Wiggum. After doing this to Ned a second time, Bart starts doing it to other people, including Rainier Wolfcastle, Moe Szyslak, and Principal Skinner.
While Homer is shopping at the Kwik-E-Mart, Bart paints the curb next to his car red. However, Bart gets caught on the Kwik-E-Mart's security camera. Apu doesn't notice Bart doing this, but he accidentally sends the security tape back to the video store instead of Convenience Store Survivor. Chief Wiggum rents the tape when he visits the store and is shocked to see Bart painting the curb red. Soon, Bart is arrested and taken to court, where Judge Snyder sentences him to community service cleaning off the red paint.
Not wanting to do the work, Bart sets up a sign next to the curb saying that all bystanders have to help out because it was the law. Rod and Todd pass by and see the sign, so they decide to help out because they don't want to break the law. Bart then stands by a "rest zone" sign and tells them that there's no more room in the helper zone, so he has to move to the rest zone. Rod and Todd say that it's easy and fun to obey the law.
