The Little Black Box is a small bar located on the grounds of the Springfield International Airport.
History
The Little Black Box is an exclusive establishment, serving only pilots, copilots, and those who have played one or the other on TV. When Homer was kicked out of Moe's Tavern and had no luck finding another bar to drink in, he went to The Little Black Box, gaining entry by pretending to be a pilot. Unfortunately, the deception backfired when the airport needed a pilot on short notice and the officials went looking in the bar for one. They chose the one patron who wasn't drunk, and that was Homer.
Behind the Laughter
The name of the bar is a pun on "black box", a slang term for the flight recorders found in most commercial aircraft.
