- The comic name and the Piemen of the World are a reference to the Batmen of All Nations, a group of Batman-inspired superheroes from DC Comics.
- Man O' Pies is a reference to Man-Of-Bats.
- The Veggie-Mite is likely a reference to Bat-Mite and the Australian food spread Vegemite.
- The Pie Cave is a parody of the Batcave.
- The Blue-haired lawyer tells Pieman not to say "This looks like a job for Pieman," a reference to Superman's catchphrase "This looks like a job for Superman!"
