The Springfield Seven was a group of anti-establishment activists who carried out an operation against Montgomery Burns' biological warfare laboratory.
History[edit]
During the late 1960s, Mona Simpson joined a group of activists opposed to Montgomery Burns' germ warfare laboratory. The group secretly entered the facility and attempted to destroy it with a bomb. Instead of causing an explosion, the device released antibiotics into the air, eliminating the laboratory's harmful germs. While the other members escaped, Homer's mother stopped to help Burns after he was knocked down, allowing him to identify her.
Following the incident, television news reported that only one member of the Springfield Seven had been identified: a woman in her early thirties who remained a fugitive. To protect her family from prosecution, Homer's mother went into hiding and lived under numerous aliases for the next twenty-seven years, receiving assistance from an underground network while authorities continued searching for her.
