The Baltimore Colts are a professional American football team based in Baltimore.

History[edit]

During a televised Super Bowl, Abe Simpson watched the game while his wife put young Homer to bed. Sportscaster Howard Cosell praised Joe Namath of the New York Jets for his distinctive sideburns, prompting Homer's mother to see them as a symbol of the cultural changes of the 1960s. In contrast, Abe admired the clean-cut appearance of Johnny Unitas of the Baltimore Colts, remarking that his haircut was one "you could set your watch to." Their opposing reactions to the two quarterbacks reflected the couple's differing views and foreshadowed Homer's mother's decision to embrace the counterculture movement.
