¡Bart Speaks Spanish! is a Bart Simpson story first printed in Bart Simpson #84.

Synopsis[edit]

While trying to steal candy, Bart receives a head injury. When he wakes up, everyone finds that he can only speak in Spanish.

Plot[edit]

Homer and Bart are watching The Junk Food Channel when Bart shouts for Marge to bring him more pastry puffs. Marge instead brings vegetables and tells him that she's thrown out all the sugary junk food. She then throws Bart out of the house and tells him to go to the park to work up an appetite. At the park, Bart finds a Hispanic birthday party where they have a pinata. Bart gets ready to run in and steal some candy from the pinata, but the kid, Carlitos, hits Bart with the stick instead.

Bart wakes up in the hospital and starts speaking in Spanish. Dr. Hibbert tells Homer and Marge that the hit to the head has affected the language center of his brain and the change will likely be permanent. At home, Homer and Marge struggle to understand and communicate with Bart. At Springfield Elementary, things aren't much better. Principal Skinner tells Bart that his speaking Spanish is disruptive, so he's being transferred to East Springfield Elementary School. When he arrives at his new school, Bart meets Pepi, who introduces him to some of his friends.

After school, Pepi takes Bart home to meet his new dad, Bumblebee Man. Bumblebee Man and Pepi take Bart to a lucha libre show, where they watch Meester Espock and Capitan Kirko wrestling. When Kirko has Espock on the ground, Bart decides to jump in to help out. Capitan Kirko swings a metal chair at Meester Espock, but accidentally hits Bart instead. Shortly after, Bart wakes up to find that he can only speak in Klingon. Comic Book Guy takes Bart to a Star Trek convention so Bart can give Klingon lessons and he can become rich.
