Big Science Thing is an annual science competition in Springfield.

At the 12th Annual Big Science Thing, a scientist called Steve presented his method of stopping an alien invasion, a giant mousetrap. He demonstrated this with a model of the White House and a UFO dangling from a stick.
After Steve, Lisa went onto the stage to present her findings on why bullies picked on nerds. The audience initially dismissed Lisa because she was a child, but Lisa brought out Francine, who had been put into a cage by her parents for the presentation. Lisa used a swab to apply Poindextrose to herself and let Francine catch her scent. The bully immediately became aggressive and tried to get to Lisa.
