Cultural references
- Lisa did a book report on To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
- Later, Lisa mentions that her suit has a global positioning system in it, which saves her from having to call a "Boo Radley" if she gets lost. Roo Radley is a character from To Kill a Mockingbird.
- A photo of former US president Richard Nixon is in the disused classroom.
- When Lisa moons the class, she says "the eagle has landed." This is the phrase astronaut Neil Armstrong said when the Lunar Module Eagle landed on the Moon.
- Bart compares being made to tear down the false wall he put up to asking Michelangelo to blow up the Sistine Chapel.
