The Candy Industry Trade Show was a candy convention for candy manufacturers and exhibitors held at the Community Center.
History[edit]
Homer Simpson obtained tickets through a promotional contest hidden inside Krusty Klump Bars and decided to attend with his wife, Marge. Before the event, Homer prepared to collect as much free candy as possible, even having Marge wear a trench coat with extra pockets sewn inside to carry samples out of the convention.
During the event, exhibitors distributed large amounts of candy and presented novelty products, including experimental sour candies, wax candy items, and specialty gummy displays. Homer moved through the convention sampling products and collecting candy from multiple booths. His attention eventually focused on the "Gummi Venus de Milo," a rare gummy sculpture displayed inside a glass case. While Marge distracted the crowd after candy spilled from her coat, Homer smashed the display case, stole the gummy figure, and fled the convention as security guards and exhibitors chased the couple out of the building.
As they escaped, Homer stopped near the exit and used a Buzz Cola can together with a packet of Pop Rox candy to create an explosive reaction, throwing it toward the pursuing crowd. The resulting blast shattered the glass entrance doors and allowed Homer and Marge to escape with large quantities of candy taken from the convention floor.
