In Lisa's class, the teacher asked the students about a name for a toy and Lisa's option was selected as the one for the perfect toy: Funzo. Lisa discovered it all and told Homer about it, but when Homer, Marge, Lisa and Wiggum went to the school to see if there was a secret room in the janitor's room, there were only janitorial stuff. Funzo toys were later released to the costumers and the toy sold very quickly.

The Funzo toy seemed to have a mind of its own and attempted to kill off all other competition in toys, such as Bart's Krusty doll and Lisa's Malibu Stacy because people did not know that the toy was programmed to destroy other toys that kids got for Christmas. Homer, Bart and Lisa threw all the Funzo Dolls at the Tire fire.

Mr. Sparkle is a Japanese brand of dish washing and laundry detergent. It is a joint venture between Matsumura Fishworks and Tamaribuchi Heavy Manufacturing Concern.

While at the Springfield City Dump, Bart found a box of Mr. Sparkle detergent. He called over Homer and Lisa to look at the box, and they were all shocked that it had a picture of Homer on the front. Homer later called the Mr. Sparkle Factory in Japan to ask why they were using his likeness on the box. He later received a videotape for American investors with a commercial for Mr. Sparkle included. The end of the commercial revealed the truth behind Mr. Sparkle: it was a merger of the companies Matsumura Fishworks, which had a fish logo, and Tamaribuchi Heavy Manufacturing Concern, which had a lightbulb logo.
