When the two fourth grade classes at Springfield Elementary School shared a classroom, Nikki McKenna and Bart ended up being seatmates. During that time, Nikki was reading Red Moon. Bart complained about the book but Nikki defended it.

Red Moon is a parody of New Moon, one of the books in the Twilight series.
