Synopsis[edit]

After Homer's work cuts children's healthcare benefits, Marge turns to buying healing crystals as a cheaper solution for Bart's ADD. Bart begins to succeed in school, prompting Marge to open her own new age store and sell to the mothers at school.

Plot[edit]

At the Power Plant, Smithers delivers Mr. Burns a financial report, which comes in lower than expected. To cut costs, Burns eliminates children's healthcare from workers' benefits and releases the hounds.

As a result, children's medications are cut, including those for Bart's ADD. He is prescribed a cheaper alternative, but Lisa shows Marge a video from hypochondria.edu, featuring Walther Hotenhoffer, warning about the side effects of the low-cost medicine—which soon begin to manifest in Bart.

Dr. Nick proves unhelpful, but at the crystal shop FAO Quartz, they discover blue healing crystals said to help with Bart's condition. Three weeks later, Bart brings home an "A" on a paper, which Marge attributes to the crystals' power.

Marge returns to buy more crystals but finds the shop is closing. The owner gives her the entire inventory before joining a new cult. Marge begins cleansing and selling the crystals, opening Ye Olde New Age Store in their garage. Her clients are pleased with the results.

When supplies run low, Lindsey Naegle steps in and offers to expand Marge's business. It becomes the Murmur store, a major success. Homer even rolls onto a pile of crystals in bed, leading them to fantasize about a journey through a blue crystal world, including remarrying each other.

Lisa remains skeptical of the crystals' powers. Piper Paisley, owner of the healing beauty relaxorium Plop in Shelbyville, threatens Marge to leave the business. After someone throws a rock labeled peace into the house, Marge retaliates by opening a kiosk at the Shelbyville Mall next to Plop.

After school, Lisa discovers Bart's scheme—he has been using the crystals to hide a text on the wall he reads during class while Milhouse distracts Ned. Lisa convinces him to confess, reminding him Marge is the only one who still believes in him.
