Chess is a board game played between two players.

History[edit]

Bart played chess with Maggie, who was sucking on the white king.[1]

In the park, as Bart and Rabbi Krustofsky played chess, Bart played his final card, and the rabbi was impressed.[2] During the teacher's strike, a crowd gathered in the park to watch Bart play three chess games at once, although Bart was quickly checkmated by all of his opponents.[3]

After Bart was taunted by the bullies for becoming a stereotypical nerd, he managed to escape their grasp and ran frantically. An arm reached out, pulling him into a locker, where Martin lit a match. Martin showed Bart the hideout where all nerds went to escape bullies—a room filled with nerds playing chess, solving equations, and building a model of the Starship Enterprise.[4]

The chess notation "Pawn to King's Bishop 4!" was among the ramblings from the "crazy guy" at the Springfield Homeless Shelter.[5]

Grampa Simpson played chess with former Attorney General Janet Reno for years through postal correspondence.[6]
