As Homer's secret Santa, Carl bought him a DVD player and the first season of Magnum P.I.. Homer was very pleased with the gift, saying that Carl remembered that Homer "liked watching TV." The DVDs included commentary by John Hillerman, who starred as Jonathan Higgins in the show.
