Scratchy is filled with a murderous desire to kill mice (even his best friend, Itchy). However, a desire never once fulfilled. Scratchy is always trying to kill Itchy. However, for no matter how clever the connivance, Scratchy always fails to kill Itchy and always falls victim to Itchy's own diabolical schemes. Despite all of this chaos, Itchy and Scratchy remain the best of friends. Like Itchy, Scratchy rarely speaks (perhaps because he is too busy, screaming, yowling, wailing, and caterwauling).
