During [[Trappuccino]], Frink invented the ray to shoot acid at the dome which would enable the townspeople to exit it. But when Frink presented his invention, he realized it was outside of the dome.

Frink and his son built the robot to compete against another home-built robot in the television show ''[[Robot Rumble]]''. The robot had won five consecutive championships, before its championship match against [[Bart Simpson]]'s [[Chief Knock-A-Homer]] was declared a draw; [[Homer Simpson]] was in fact inside Bart's robot because he could not build a one capable of beating any robot featured on the show. After Homer was exposed, Frink's robot stopped attacking him because it had been programmed with the Three Laws of Robotics and was thus incapable of harming a human being; the robot morphed part of itself into a chaise lounge, seated Homer and served him a martini. It was after this that the match was declared a draw.

Frink's first patent was invented originally to inform children of snow-days, but fell into the hands of a bum who used it for telemarketing. Homer took the auto-dialer out of the dumpster which it was thrown into and used it for a money scam; he called everyone in Springfield under the name of "Happy Dude" and explained that if they sent him money it would make them happy. During this time, Frink tried to return the auto-dialer to himself by allowing its wheels to lower and roll along on them back to his laboratory; this was stopped by Homer when he took the wheels off the product. The townspeople became annoyed by the constant calling of "Happy Dude" and complained to the police. Homer was arrested and was told to bring the product to his court cause otherwise Homer would be let off the hook. Homer later recorded another message, apologizing for his money scam - but started another by asking those annoyed by his constant calling for money if they forgave him.
