 The attack left sonar, navigation and the radio all out of commission. Homer ordered his crew to make a left and head back home but then changed his mind and ordered the submarine into [[Russia]]n waters. This almost caused an international incident and Homer was accused of treason, with other ships attempting to blow up the Jebediah. After an aircraft carrier found the submarine and attacked it, the submarine started to sink. Homer used the earring that he made [[Bart]] give him to plug the hole and stop it from flooding. The submarine then surfaced and Homer had to explain his actions to everyone.

+After graduating from training at the [[Springfield Naval Reserve Base]], [[Homer]] was assigned to the U.S.S. Jebediah for war games, under [[Captain Tenille]]. On board the submarine, Tenille quickly bonded with Homer and put him on charge whilst he went and investigated a blockage in torpedo tube one. Whilst Tenille was investigating, an enemy submarine attacked and Homer ordered the torpedoes be fired, which fired out Captain Tenille, killing him, leaving Homer in command.
-After [[Homer]] joined the naval reserve he was placed on board at U.S.S. Jebediahwhich under the command of [[Captain Tenille]]. After a time Captain Tenille takes a shine to Homer and when the Captain goes to check on a problem in the torpedo hatch, Homer is left in charge. At this point, an enemy submarine approaches Homer's, and Homer immediately responds by giving the order to fire a torpedo. However, Captain Tenille is in the torpedo hatch and is fired at the other submarine. The other sub fires back at them, and Homer gives the order to retreat. The submarine ends up in Russian waters and is interpreted by the United States government as an attempt to defect. Nuclear war is anticipated until the US Navy drops depth charges on U.S.S. Jebediah that force it to surface.
