After [[Chief Wiggum]] tried to stop the car in which [[Ruth Powers]] and [[Marge]] were traveling due to a busted tail light, Ruth accelerated and escaped because it was the stolen car of Ruth's ex-husband. Chief Wiggum and [[Homer]] caught up with them again. They were cornered by police cars two miles from the [[State Line|state line]], but drove off-road to the [[Grand Chasm]]. Homer took a megaphone, apologized to Marge, and warned her about the chasm, which made them stop. However, Homer and Wiggum drove into it but were saved by a pile of garbage, as the canyon was being used as a landfill.
