 While [[Marge]] makes gingerbread for [[Lisa]]'s school project, she makes [[Homer]] stay outdoors until dinner is ready. Homer tries to play with [[Santa's Little Helper]] but he is not interested. Homer discovers that the neighbors are visiting and watching them. The neighbors show their friends their new sweat lodge. Homer mishears this as a "sweet lodge" and assumes they hide their candy inside. The wind starts blowing a bit, so the neighbors and their friends go inside for some hemp tea. [[Bart]] tells Marge that the TV is reporting a weather warning. Worried, Marge asks him to retrieve Homer. Bart says that he'll do it...right after he finishes watching TV.
-In search of candy, Homer sneaks into the sweat lodge.  But when he enters, the wind slams the door shut and he cannot get out. The Knights discover the sweat lodge and throw it in the river, because it does not belong in the woods. The sweat lodge stars to travel across the river, and Homer prays to go back to the present. The storm has calmed down and Marge wants to go out and look for Homer. Bart and [[Lisa]] want to watch TV, but she makes them go out with her. Homer is stopped by a fallen tree and he ends up in a reenactment of the American Civil War, and the actors think Homer is with them again. Homer pushes away the sweat lodge again and jumps into it. Meanwhile, Marge and the kids have started looking for Homer.

The garbage men start chasing Homer, and a machine crushes the sweat lodge, which makes Homer angry because he will not be able to go home now. [[Cletus]] and his family drive past the dumpster and pick up Homer, and they tell him that they have seen a wanted poster about him and Homer realizes that they still miss him. [[Brandine]] points out that he has only been missing since this afternoon. Homer does not understand how he traveled back to the present. Cletus gives Homer a ride home. Marge is happy when she sees Homer again. Lisa asks Homer where he's been, to which he replies that they should be wondering ''when'' he has been. Marge tells him that she does not care about when or where he's been, she's just happy that everything is back to normal.
