== History ==
Springfield Elementary's Science Week ended with the launch of a weather balloon organized by [[Principal Seymour Skinner]], who proudly described it as the school's “most propane-explosion-free science week ever.” Students gathered outside the school as Groundskeeper Willie released the balloon while Skinner praised science and encouraged enthusiasm for the event.

The celebration was disrupted when [[Bart Simpson]] revealed he had secretly attached a giant caricature of Skinner to the balloon. As it rose into the sky, hidden panels unfolded showing a huge image of the principal holding a sign reading “Hi, I’m Big Butt Skinner.” The students burst into laughter, and after Skinner announced that whoever brought the balloon down would not have to learn fractions, many of the children immediately began throwing rocks at it, but without success. Skinner then ordered [[Groundskeeper Willie]] to destroy the balloon with a shotgun, but the attempt also failed, and the balloon continued drifting through the sky.
