She is illiterate. In [[She Used To Be My Girl]], news reporter Chloe Talbot revealed a video of Mayor Quimby's womanizing. In the video, Miss Springfield had read Quimby's sash as "Major", causing him to become frustrated. In "[[See Homer Run]]", she happily ran for mayor while boasting about how amusing she'd look while parading around the mayor's office.
In "[[Last of the Red Hat Mamas]]" she berates [[Joe Quimby|Mayor Quimby]] about lying to her about Martha Quimby's "death". He scolds her for lying about her graduating from "typing school". She then admits she has trouble with the space bar.
