 Homer makes a speech to a large audience at the duck pond while the Mayor gives a speech for an equally large congregation outside the church. After Homer's speech destroyed large parts of the duck pound, Lisa is saddened for what Homer did. Homer decides to stop the cooperating with Fat Tony, after it turned out that he owns the land for the duck pond. Homer hits him with the Mayor and realizes that he works for both. Lisa becomes his new campaign manager and he becomes popular. After the voting is complete, it turns out that there were equal votes for Simpson and Quimby. Homer decides to make a deal with Quimby and let him become mayor if he promises that there will be no Sunday blues laws and the duck pond be saved. Neither Lovejoy or Fat Tony is excited about the decision, but everyone else in the town seems to be happy.
