While Krusty was being investigated by the IRS for tax fraud, authorities discovered that he had been hiding money in a secret offshore account in the Cayman Islands, leading to his arrest as one of the biggest tax cheats in history. Instead of sending him to prison, the IRS decided to garnish 75% of his salary for 40 years, but after Krusty said he did not expect to live that long, they increased it to 95%. The IRS also took control of his television show, leaving it without sets, props, costumes, or Sideshow Mel, and turned his Krusty Burger restaurants into IRS Burger. As his debts continued to be collected, Krusty eventually lost his mansion, possessions, and private plane, which were seized and sold at auction.
