[[Lisa Simpson]] described the show as a response to the entertainment media, arguing that mainstream television cared more about sensationalism than the truth.

The program was filmed in a small local studio decorated with simple props, including a folding chair, a fern, and an American flag supplied by [[Grampa Simpson]]. Introduced by Lisa as “The Innocence Report with Homer Simpson,” the broadcast featured Homer speaking directly to viewers and insisting that he was innocent of harassing the babysitter. During the live broadcast, however, Homer became distracted and nearly admitted unrelated past misbehavior before being interrupted by Marge.
