The '''Flu Sufferer''' (real name not known) is a man who turned out to be {{w|Index case|Patient Zero}} when a flu epidemic swept through [[Springfield]].

== History ==
The Flu Sufferer had a case of the flu and went to the [[Kwik-E-Mart]] to buy some [[Flu Fighters|medication]] and gain some relief from his symptoms. [[Apu]], however, refused to accept the man's "disease-tinged currency", leaving him at a loss for how to pay. Just then, [[Snake]] burst into the store brandishing a pistol and ordered the man to hand over his wallet. Snake took not only the man's wallet, but also the medication he had intended to buy. As Snake left the store, he sniffed the man's wallet and said to himself, "Mmm, the sweet smell of illegally gotten gains!" However, in doing so, he infected himself with the flu and almost immediately felt unwell, thus validating Apu's reluctance to accept the Flu Sufferer's money. After that, Snake infected [[Chief Wiggum]], Wiggum infected [[Wiggum family|his family]], and the flu thus spread throughout Springfield.

Two days later, the Flu Sufferer was flying out of [[Shelbyville International Airport]] and was seatmates with [[Comic Book Guy]], who was flying away from Springfield to get away from the epidemic as he was one of the few people who hadn't been infected. As they shook hands, Comic Book Guy said he would try not to quote the dialogue from the ''[[Doctor Who]]'' episodes he was going to watch during the flight. The Flu Sufferer replied that that wouldn't be a problem as he would be out cold from his flu medication before the plane took off. Comic Book Guy then realized, to his mortification, that he had been infected with the flu from their handshake.
