 [[Marge]] had many happy memories of visiting Barnacle Bay as a child. When she saw some old home movie footage of a family trip to Barnacle Bay, she began to feel nostalgic for the place. [[Homer]] took her there for a visit, but Marge was sad to find that the island had become a disgusting dump, in sharp contrast to the tourist paradise it had been when she was a child. Homer tried to bring back some of the island's appeal by repairing the boardwalk, running the carousel (Marge's favorite thing on the island) by hand and staging a fireworks display, but his plan backfired when the fireworks set the boardwalk on fire and burned down both it and the carousel.
