After [[Santa's Little Helper]] had surgery to remove the grapes he had eaten, Adrienne Gesstar told [[Marge]] that the dog needed to lose a lot of weight. She served as Santa's Little Helper's trainer, having him run obstacle courses to help him lose weight. After his first session, Marge agreed to enroll him in a full course. Eventually, Santa's Little Helper became fit enough to take part in competitions, with Adrienne continuing to train him. After winning the [[Springfield Canine Classic]], Santa's Little Helper was set to take part in a competition in [[Philadelphia]].

In Philadelphia, Marge and Adrienne prepared Santa's Little Helper to compete at the [[Greater Philadelphia Convention Hall]]. After completing the obstacle course, Santa's Little Helper jumped into Adrienne's arms and licked her, which made Marge sad. After the competition ended, Marge wanted to take Santa's Little Helper to the [[Michael Vick Reparation Park]], but Adrienne rejected the idea and wanted to take him elsewhere. She took them to a Colonial firefighting exhibit, where Santa's Little Helper peed on the first fire hydrant, which horrified Marge. However, Adrienne was pleased because his urine revealed a riddle written by [[Benjamin Franklin]]. Santa's Little Helper was descended from Benjamin Franklin's greyhound, which had been genetically modified and trained to gain access to a key for Benjamin Franklin's hidden treasure. Adrienne then took Santa's Little Helper to solve the riddle and find Benjamin Franklin's hidden treasure.

When he reached the key at the top, Adrienne told him to come back to her. However, realizing that the obstacle course wouldn't survive him coming down, Marge told him to stay. Adrienne tried to blow a dog whistle to call him down to her, but Homer knocked it out of her hands with a battery. Adrienne went to grab her backup whistle from a holster on her ankle, while Marge talked to Santa's Little Helper and told him how much he meant to the family.
