Before the solar eclipse, [[Kent Brockman]] aired a report (Sky-o-rama) on [[Channel 6 News]], which ended with him leaving the studio over not having his eclipse-viewing object pre-made. When the [[Simpson family]] were viewing the eclipse in their eclipse-viewing objects, Homer's 'space toy' got crushed when Bart jumped onto the [[Santa's Little Helper|dog]]'s kennel, and Homer jumped on as well, with Bart throwing him off. [[Marge]] then gave Homer her eclipse-viewing object, as there will be another eclipse in Yemen over 10 years later.T he family lets Marge feel left out, saying that they will talk about the eclipse for years. Marge then decided to look at the eclipse with the naked eye, remarking that it is beautiful, before the sun peeks from behind the moon, straining Marge's eyes. Marge had to wear a bandage over her eyes for two weeks.
