* The story is a sequel to the television episode "[[Three Men and a Comic Book]]".
**The plotlines of the comic story and the TV episode are very similar to each other. In the TV episode, [[Bart]], [[Martin]] and [[Milhouse]] pool their money to buy a rare ''{{ap|Radioactive Man|comic}}'' comic book; in the comic story, the trio go "thirdsies" to buy the [[Radioactive Man Rad Rocket Racer Model Kit]].
**When Bart and Martin start arguing, Milhouse admonishes them to stop fighting because of what happened the last time they went thirdsies on something.
**At the admonition, Martin sweats profusely and stammers about the storm and the comic book and his [[Martha Prince|mother]], indicating that he may still be traumatized by the experience.
