When [[The Better Business Battalion]] started apprehending shoplifters, they became so successful that the crime rate in [[Springfield]] dropped to zero. With the drop in crime there also came a drop in store's prices. Beer at [[Moe's Tavern]] only cost a quarter a glass and as a result [[Homer]] ended up getting so drunk that when he awoke he discovered that he had become the {{W|Prime Minister of New Zealand}}. 

A newspaper headline later declared that New Zealand and [[Australia]] were now at war, which was presumably Homer's fault, and this incident likely led to Homer being kicked out of office.<ref>''[[Merchants of Vengeance!]]''</ref>
